What are the highlights of your current and past civic involvement including public offices held or sought?

 Collin College Board of Trustees, Place 3 (2017-2023), Volunteer teacher at Hutchins Unit State Jail in the GED and CHANGES programs, Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor, CCDP office volunteer.

Do you believe that professors should be allowed to work in an environment respecting their freedom of speech and thought ?

Yes 

How would you work to create and open environment respecting freedom of speech and thought for your professors?

I don't believe that faculty should be penalized for using their professional titles and emails in conjunction with responsible social activism.

What is your position on Collin College’s marshal plan?

There is no data showing that a marshal plan at the community college level is beneficial. I'm not in favor of using CC (Collin College) as testing grounds for this. I voted against it.

In the case of a future occurrence of an epidemic or pandemic, should Collin College adhere to CDC protocols? Please explain your position with respect to adherence to CDC protocols in the case of future epidemics or pandemics

Yes, I do agree personally that the college should adhere to CDC protocols. However, as a publicly funded institution, the college does have to operate within the guidelines set by the governor or risk losing various types of funding. While I voted against our reopening plan, and I certainly think that many things were mishandled, but it's also important to understand that the college is not 100% autonomous in making these kinds of decisions.
